In no particular order of importance or relevancy:
- Watched about three minutes of Nick Saban's snuff film on Saturday. I fear that "Saban-era Alabama" has joined the pantheon of greats, along with '90s Nebraska and '80s Miami.
- The Oregon points-scoring machine has become self-aware and has maximized its efficiency. Starters may not play a full game until they face USC.
- Imagine a drag race where the car pulls its parachute as soon as it's gone 80 yards. This is Oklahoma's offense. Someone with a good offense is going to do something bad to them this year. Luckily, they play in the Big 12, so this should happen by October.
- I'm thinking the Big Ten should redshirt this year. Come back stronger next year.
- Nebraska looked impressive in Week 1. Which means they'll be a dumpster fire by Week 5.
- 10/20, BYU @ Notre Dame. When was the last time you circled the date for a clash between independents? 1990?
- Well, Boise State, at least it didn't come down to your kicker this time.
- Stanford is on the edge of a cliff. Duke is going to push them over.
- The Big 12 and SEC could get ugly this year. I don't think there's going to be a dominant team in the Big 12, and I stand by my three-way tie at 6-3 claim. LSU and Bama should dominate the SEC, but there's going to be a lot of bareknuckle brawling on the pile beneath those two. I think we'll see two disparate examples of what constitutes a proper size for a conference.
